Welcome back.

We're in the final days of the Year of the Snake. Horses are already appearing across the city in anticipation. This edition: A personal favourite, your recommendations, what's on, end-of-year giveaways, and where to find equine inspiration in Zurich.

Spotlight

Lian Hua Hardturm Supermarket and Restaurant

Lian Hua Hardturm—Go for the dim sum set before it’s gone.

If you work near Hardbrücke, Puls 5 or Technopark, there is a lunch option you might easily overlook. Slightly hidden among busy streets, Lian Hua Hardturm is more than a Chinese supermarket: from Monday to Saturday at noon, it serves a rotating, buffet-style selection of hot dishes, including cooked mains, dim sum and freshly prepared noodle soups. Add-ons like bing, baozi and spring rolls make it easy to put together a quick, satisfying lunch without the wait of a sit-down restaurant. Beyond the food counter, the shop stands out for its up-to-date range, with current East Asian brands such as Heytea (喜茶) and treats like Japanese cheesecake.

Location: Förrlibuckstrasse 30, 8005 Zurich

Open: Mon—Sat: 9:00—19:00

On the Lookout for Horses

As we enter the Year of the Horse on 17 February, they're everywhere—if you know where to look.

Swatch just released a Year of the Horse special edition. There's one perched on top of the new building at Escher-Wyss-Platz. Fountains across Zurich feature them in stone and bronze.

We're curious: Where are you finding horses in Zurich?

Spotted a Year of the Horse creative campaign? A statue we should know about? An unexpected equine detail in architecture, art, or design?

Send us your horse sightings—photos welcome. Hit reply or tag us on Instagram @zurichchinatown—I read every message.

A special find—On the premises of the cantonal administration, Walcheplatz
